Better than Dane Placko w/Dan Hynes: Berkowitz w/ 7th CD candidate State Rep. Collins on healthcare, education and war; Cable and Streaming

Jeff Berkowitz: …Should that person in the City of Chicago be able to own a gun, a handgun, in his home? [Watch the show with 7th CD Democratic Primary candidate Annazette Collins].

Annazette Collins, 7th CD Democratic Primary candidate and State Rep. (D-Chicago): Well, it’s illegal right now.

Jeff Berkowitz: I know. Should we change the law? It’s a city issue. I know you’re a state Rep. and you’re running for federal office, but I’m trying to get your philosophy. Would you like to see that changed in the City of Chicago [so] that people in the 7th Congressional District in Chicago could own a handgun.

Rep. Annazette Collins: I don’t know that I would go as far to say that everyone in the City of Chicago should carry a handgun at this point.

Jeff Berkowitz: I’m not saying should carry; [I’m saying] should be allowed to do that without breaking the law.

Rep. Annazette Collins: If they choose to and if they were a law abiding citizen and they went and got a permit and had a FOID card.

Jeff Berkowitz: They should be able to do it.

Rep. Annazette Collins: Because most of the state and most of the surrounding cities are allowed to carry a gun.

Annazette Collins, 7th CD Democratic Primary Candidate and State Rep., debates and discusses a broad range of domestic, foreign and cultural public policy issues with show host and Executive Legal Recruiter Jeff Berkowitz on a show taped on August 30, 2009. Although filing of nominating petitions for this race is not required until the first week of November, Rep. Collins , as of now, seems likely to face five or more competitors in the Democratic Primary to replace Cong. Danny Davis, who says he will will not seek re-election, but will instead run in the Democratic Primary for Cook County Board President. Cong. Davis is, however, circulating nominating petitions for both the 7th CD race and the Cook County Board President race.
