Better than Sex and the City: Oberweis on TV and Streaming

Jeff Berkowitz: And, now you’ve rebounded. Are you engaged, now?

Jim Oberweis: As a matter of fact, I started seeing someone that I had known, when I was a kid, but hadn’t seen for thirty or thirty five years, and I got a letter from her asking if I remembered her, which I certainly did very well and we got together just to talk about old times and over the last year or so, we kept getting together quite a bit, and we are now engaged.

Another side to Jim Oberweis:

Jeff Berkowitz: [You] built the businesses, raised the family and you now have five kids?

Jim Oberweis[R-Sugar Grove, Gubernatorial Candidate]: Five, yes.

Jeff Berkowitz: How many grandchildren?

Jim Oberweis: Thirteen, two of them not born yet, but eleven born and two are on their way.

Jeff Berkowitz: And, you’re divorced?

Jim Oberweis: I am, about four years ago. Yeah.

Jeff Berkowitz: Was that a result of your interest in politics? A difference of opinion between your wife and you?

Jim Oberweis: No, I don’t think so. I think it was a result of my wife deciding that she wanted to live with somebody else. It was not a very pleasant situation from my view point.

Jeff Berkowitz: You are now engaged. Would you plan, if you won this in the primary, on getting married before the general election?

Jim Oberweis: No, I don’t think so. Our plan would be to wait until after the November election.

Jeff Berkowitz: Would your wife-to-be be okay with living in the mansion, in Springfield? She wouldn’t say she would rather live in Iowa, or somewhere?

Jim Oberweis: She is one terrific lady, and I am very excited about the future, and she has a daughter who would be finishing up a few months after that, actually it is Stevenson High School, she lives in Buffalo Grove. I would be living in the mansion and she would be joining me after graduation.
