Better than Alabama v. Texas, Berkowitz joins Bob Dold (not Dole) on Roeser's Sunday nIght radio show. You can call in and join us, too.

Aren't the voters in the 10th CD "as sophisticated," as Coulson's constituents were in her State Rep. District? If so, why would they want or need former Cong. John Porter's guidance, when Coulson said her then 57th Dist. voters didn't want her guidance [in 2000] as to voting for George W. Bush or Mark Kirk? I mean, fair is fair.

After all the Holiday treats have been eaten on Sunday and there is a break in the college football action, don't despair, you will still have one big treat in store for you on Sunday.

Jeff Berkowitz will join Bob Dold, most likely the front-runner in the 10th Cong. District Republican Primary, as a guest this Sunday night on Tom Roeser’s often edgy, breaking news Sunday, call-in radio show, Political Shoot-out, on WLS 890 AM Radio, from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

You say you don't live within the WLS broadcast area? Not to worry. You can go here to listen to the program, live, on the web.[You may encounter some technical problems in signing on-- allow five minutes, or so, for following the prompts for technical difficulties, and you should be able to hear WLS live on the web] See here for Tom’s Blog which has Tom's thoughts on a great many matters, political and otherwise.

Upset with something Berkowitz said on his show, Public Affairs, something he wrote on this blog or just the way he looks? Tom Roeser’s show on Sunday night is your chance to fire back. A free fire zone, so to speak. Also, you can help shape the show and its topics by calling in with your questions and comments—312-591-8900.

Tom Roeser usually covers a broad range of national, state and local issues but I anticipate we may focus on national issues and to some extent on the 10th CD Republican and Democratic primaries, due to the presence of Bob Dold in the studio.

The four major candidates in the 10th CD Republican Primary are pest control small business owner Dold (Kenilworth), investment services entrepreneur Dick Green (Winnetka), State Rep. Beth Coulson (Glenview) and group practice pediatrician Arie Friedman, M.D. {Highland Park).

The major players in the 10th CD Democratic primary are State Rep. Julie Hamos (Evanston) and consultant Dan Seals (Wilmette), who lost two close races to Cong. Mark Kirk (R-Highland) in 2006 and 2008.

There are 31 days left until the Feb. 2nd Primary, so Monday is kind of the kick-off of the post Holiday closing segment of this abbreviated primary season.

The buzz in the 10th CD is that former 10th CD Republican Congressman John Porter might endorse in this race, and if so, the conventional wisdom is that he would endorse State Rep. Beth Coulson. But, is that correct?

Beth Coulson declined, on "Public Affairs," on Sep. 14, 2000, to endorse George Bush for President and Mark Kirk for Congress. She said she didn't have enough information about them on some of the "issues that were very important to her," and anyway, her voters were very sophisticated and "they usually want to make decisions for themselves."

But, if that is the case, how much does Cong. Porter know about Rep. Coulson? After all, Cong. Porter left the District in 2001 and moved to Washington, DC. How much could he know about Coulson's performance in the last nine years? And, aren't the voters in the 10th CD "as sophisticated," as Coulson's constituents were in her State Rep. District? If so, why would they want or need Porter's guidance, when Coulson said her then 57th Dist. voters didn't want her guidance as to voting for George W. Bush or Mark Kirk? I mean, fair is fair.

Perhaps Rep. Coulson will want to call in to answer those questions. She was supposed to appear on "Public Affairs," in November, 2009, but Coulson lost her voice and then her will. Perhaps she found them, by now.

Maybe Dick Green will want to call in and answer some questions. He has been ducking Public Affairs for five months. Maybe Dan Seals will want to call in and answer some questions. He has been ducking Public Affairs for four years.

Both Arie Friedman, M.D. and Rep. Julie Hamos have not been ducking Public Affairs. You can watch Arie Friedman, M.D. here and State Rep. Julie Hamos here.

Of course, the above are just some guesses by this journalist as to some of the topics that this Sunday night's show might touch on. The ultimate choice is up to the show's host, Tom Roeser, his lovely and brilliant wife, Lillian and his listener call-ins.

This journalist's surmise as to the political (and other) personalities who might be discussed this Sunday night include, without limitation, President Obama, Vice-President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, Senate President Reid, Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Minnesota Gov. Pawlenty, General Petraeus, Mayor Guiliani, Former Alabama Governor Huckabee, Wisconsin Cong. Paul Ryan, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney; Illinois Republican Primary Gov. Candidates Proft, Andrzejewski, Brady, Dillard, Ryan, McKenna and Schillerstrom; Democratic Guv candidate and State Comptroller Dan Hynes, Democratic Governor Pat Quinn; Republican U. S. Senate Candidates Cong. Kirk, Pat Hughes and John Arrington; Democratic U. S. Senate candidates David Hoffman, Cheryle Jackson, Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and Jacob Meister.
