Jeff Berkowitz: Back to the social issues, you are a 1000% Pro-Choice [on abortion], right?

Zane Smith [10th CD Dem. Primary candidate]: Yes.

Jeff Berkowitz: Same sex marriage, that may be a difference. You do not support same sex marriage?

Zane Smith: I believe in civil unions-

Jeff Berkowitz: What about Seals? He supports same sex marriage?

Zane Smith: I think he does—

Jeff Berkowitz: Does [Cong. Mark] Kirk support same sex marriage?

Zane Smith: You know—I don’t know.

Jeff Berkowitz: Gun Control- Would you support a ban on assault weapons?

Zane Smith: Absolutely.

Jeff Berkowitz: Same with Seals?

Zane Smith: I think he would.

Jeff Berkowitz: Same with Kirk?

Zane Smith: Kirk supports it [assault weapon ban] , but I am not sure he is voting that way.

Jeff Berkowitz: Environmental issues, there is a difference?

Zane Smith: There is, Mark Kirk says he is an environmentalist. He [Kirk] likes to be known as an environmentalist and yet he votes in favor of drilling in ANWR.

Jeff Berkowitz: Cong. Kirk used to use [Public Affairs] as a communication vehicle [for the 10th CD]. He stopped. It’s too bad. We hope he’ll change his mind and come back [on the show].

Zane Smith: I think we are going to get him [Cong. Kirk] out of his cave. That’s the theme of this election.
