Senator Steve Rauschenberger seeks to return to Springfield
Former Republican State Senator Steve Rauschenberger (Elgin) is mounting a comeback to re-take the seat (22nd) he gave up in 2006 to run, unsuccessfully, for his party's nomination for Lt. Gov. He makes the run official when he announces tomorrow from Republican Party Headquarters at 2:00 pm in Elgin. Rauschenberger came into the General Assembly in 1992 as part of the Fab 5 and left in 2006 with the reputation as the most knowledgeable person in Springfield about the Illinois Budget. In the intervening years, that reputation, if anything, has only gotten better. With the Democratic Party in the State Senate holding a healthy 37-22 majority lead, Senate Republican leader Radogno (Lemont) is no doubt extremely happy to see Rauschenberger return to the fray.
