Better than Andy Shaw w/Obama on friends: Berkowitz w/Dillard on Cullerton, Radogno, Caprio and friends. Cable and Streaming
Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Westmont): …Cullerton and Speaker Madigan are friends. John Cullerton used to be actually the floor sort of leader for Speaker Madigan when John was in the House…it will change the whole dynamic that is there. My leader, Chris Radogno, veteran...

Senator Kirk Dillard: Well, hopefully, Mr. Caprio will cool down a little bit. I don’t control Paul. Anybody who knows Mr. Caprio knows that he is his own person. You know, it wasn’t the pro-choice stance of Senator Radogno that I think bothered Family-Pac, although they are probably a pro-life leaning organization. She did support gay rights and I think that probably kind of pushed it over the end.

Change is gonna come to Springfield, Chicago and Blago.
Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Westmont): …Cullerton and Speaker Madigan are friends. John Cullerton used to be actually the floor sort of leader for Speaker Madigan when John was in the House…it will change the whole dynamic that is there. My leader, Chris Radogno, veteran legislator [and] budget expert; the change of having a woman in there I think is a positive thing, just in terms of the civility of those meetings with Rod Blagojevich and the four legislative leaders, so change is good.

Who ran against Radogno? Not Dillard.
Senator Kirk Dillard:…First of all, I didn’t run against Christine Radogno. Senator Radogno is a friend of mine…I wasn’t running against Christine. I had some ideas of my own. I have thirty years of unique experience back from when… I have a history of winning seats as the DuPage Republican Chairman, even under brutal times…

Illinois Republicans: A movement or a Party?
Jeff Berkowitz: You know Paul Caprio, right?
Senator Kirk Dillard: Yes
Jeff Berkowitz: And, you know he is [Executive Director of] Family-Pac and before the election, he was supporting you [for Senate Republican Leader] and Caprio said Christine Radogno is out of the mainstream of the Republican Party. He is Pro-Life. His organization, he says, represents two and one half million families in Illinois. They are Pro-Life. They are not Pro- Gay Rights. He says [Radogno] is Pro Gay Rights. Caprio says Radogno is out of the mainstream [and] that will hurt in terms of recruiting candidates, in terms of energizing the base. Caprio has now declared war after [the election of Radogno]. He is continuing [the fight]. You’re not, but he is continuing. How much of a problem for the Republican Party—well, is it a problem for the Republican Party that Caprio is out there taking shots at Christine Radogno after the election.
Impact of Paul Caprio and his faithful
Senator Kirk Dillard: Well, hopefully, Mr. Caprio will cool down a little bit. I don’t control Paul. Anybody who knows Mr. Caprio knows that he is his own person. Jeff Berkowitz: That bothered them even more, you think.
Senator Kirk Dillard: That bothered them even more.

Illinois’ Sarah Palin?
Senator Kirk Dillard: The analogy [to Sarah Palin of McCain-Palin] is that we’ve got to take care of our base. You need some mainstream conservatives to—
Jeff Berkowitz: Pro-Life and anti- gay rights. That’s your base?
Senator Kirk Dillard: That is the base of the Republican Party.
Jeff Berkowitz: Then, how do you take care of the base?
Senator Kirk Dillard: You’ve got to empower and make sure that they have some representation in the leadership of the Party.
Jeff Berkowitz: So, who is the person who is second in command in the State Senate Republican caucus?
Senator Kirk Dillard: I don’t know yet.
Jeff Berkowitz: I know, but what title will that person have?
Senator Kirk Dillard: It would be the Deputy Republican Leader and it’s probably Dale Righter to be—Senator Radogno will nominate her own team.
Jeff Berkowitz: Because Dale supported Senator Radogno?
Senator Kirk Dillard: He would fill that bill.
Jeff Berkowitz: He’s Pro-Life.
Senator Kirk Dillard: Although I think Paul Caprio and Family-Pac will be mad because [Dale] was her sort of campaign manager but hopefully these things—as I’ve said, I didn’t run against Chris. I will help her any way I can. There are some benefits to having Senator Radogno [as the Senate Republican Leader], first of all she gets us back in the Chicago media market, which is crucial and it doesn’t hurt to have a face of a woman, also, out there for the Republican Party…but we’ve got to take care of our base in the Republican Party.
